Boviet Solar debuted new line of PERC modules at Intersolar (at reduced cost)

Boviet Solar USAWe sat down with Boviet Solar USA, the North American arm of Boviet Solar Technology Co., Ltd., at Intersolar in San Francisco last week to hear more about its new line of PERC (Passivated Emitter Rear Contact) solar modules. Boviet Solar used Intersolar North America to showcase its latest innovations in PERC design and manufacture for both multicrystalline and monocrystalline high-performance solar modules.

PERC is gaining momentum in the solar market because it is fulfilling its promise to deliver more efficient solar power at a reduced cost. PERC technology improves conversion efficiency by adding a dielectric passivation layer at the rear of a solar cell, helping maximize the electrical gradient across p-n junctions for a steadier flow of electrons, hence greater efficiency. PERC technology has been slow to go into mass production because it has been difficult to reduce costs. Due to a big focus on R&D and engineering following Boviet Solar’s acquisition by Powerway Alloy Materials Co., Boviet has been able to pioneer new strategies and efficiencies in the manufacturing of advanced PERC technology and produce high-tech products at a large scale.

“The solar market has been anticipating the widespread adoption of PERC technology for some time but it has been difficult to manufacture at scale,” said Eric Ma, President and Managing Director of Boviet Solar USA. “Thanks to both financial and R&D support from our parent company, Powerway Alloy, we have been able to expand our PERC manufacturing capabilities and increase production. Our goal is to become the foremost innovator in the manufacture of PERC-based solar modules.”

Boviet Solar Technology Ltd and its affiliate Boviet Solar USA are wholly owned by Powerway Alloy Materials Co., a publicly listed company on the Shanghai Stock Exchange Market. Powerway’s first-class R&D capacities, top notch teams, and capital investments have helped accelerate expansion of Boviet’s state-of-the-art solar cell and module manufacturing facilities in Vietnam, from 280 MW to 660 MW as of June 2016. Boviet’s modules have not only obtained all certificates, but they also passed the industry’s highest long-term reliability tests, far exceeding the IEC standards.
