Ameresco Inc., has awarded Hannah Solar Government Services (HSGS) a contract under their Energy Savings Performance Contract (ESPC) with the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) to install a 2.5 megawatt (MW) ground mounted solar PV system for the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) at the El Paso Intelligence Center (EPIC) located at Fort Bliss, Texas. Ameresco, Inc. is a leading independent provider of comprehensive energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions for facilities throughout North America and the United Kingdom.

The El Paso Intelligence Center was created in 1974 and was originally staffed by the DEA, Immigration and Naturalization Services (INS), and US Customs Service (USCS). Today, the EPIC has grown to host more than 20 agencies that identify national threats with an emphasis on law enforcement along the Southwest border of the US.
An Energy Savings Performance Contract works in such a way that the energy services company, Ameresco, will own the energy conservation measures to be installed, such as solar. Energy cost savings will be delivered to the El Paso Intelligence Center without any upfront expense to the US Government.

Construction of the solar array will begin this fall as HSGS completes construction of another solar project with Ameresco for the DOJ in Thomson, IL. US Army Colonel (Ret.) Dave McNeil, CEO of HSGS said, “I am grateful that Ameresco has again chosen HSGS as the solar contractor for this project. We look forward to continue providing solar energy generation for the U.S. Department of Justice.”

HSGS is a veteran-owned business specializing in the design, installation, and maintenance of solar PV energy systems. Serving the government, commercial/industrial, and utility marketplaces, HSGS’s breadth of experience includes projects that span the continental United States as well as overseas.
