LS Power Completes Construction of First 19 MW of 127 MW Project

LS Power announced today that the Arlington Valley Solar Energy Project (AV Solar) had completed construction, commissioned the first 19-MW power block and commenced initial delivery of electric energy. At completion, AV Solar will be a 127-MW-AC photovoltaic solar farm near Arlington, Ariz.

Stock - FieldAV Solar, constructed on more than 1,100 acres of land, will directly convert sunlight to electricity. The project will sell its entire output to San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) pursuant to a long-term power sales agreement. Fluor Corporation is providing engineering, procurement and construction, and operation and maintenance services for the project. The photovoltaic panels were supplied by Kyocera and Hyundai. Financing was provided by Prudential Capital Group, and a bank group led by Banco Santander S.A. GE Energy Financial Services is participating in AV Solar as an equity partner.

“We are pleased to have completed initial construction and commenced delivery of clean renewable solar electric energy to the regional electric transmission system,” said Paul Segal, CEO of LS Power, at a celebration held on site to commemorate the event. “This project will bring many benefits to the State of Arizona and Maricopa County, including construction and operations jobs, local business opportunities and tax revenues. Renewable energy deliveries will assist SDG&E and the region in reaching their renewable energy goals.”
