OutBack combines a lot of its cool tech in new SystemEdge

OutBack Power Technologies is showcasing its new SystemEdge product during the Intersolar North America in San Francisco this week. A pre-tested, wired and configured package complete with energy storage, SystemEdge gives solar equipment installers the best of both worlds: custom quality and craftsmanship, in a product that can be ordered as one part number and installed in less than half the time it would normally take.

“SystemEdge is the latest in a line of examples of OutBack innovation aimed at making our installers’ lives easier and their businesses more successful,” noted Ray Barbee, director of sales. “With their customers’ needs becoming more complex and their expectations getting higher, we wanted solar contractors to have a simpler and more cost-effective installation path. SystemEdge is the result, and it’s shipping now in time for the peak installation season.”

The SystemEdge concept is built around OutBack’s acclaimed Radian Grid/Hybrid inverter/charger, a power-conversion engine that makes it possible for a system owner to “zero out” the grid if enough solar is present, and enjoy both grid-tied economic advantages and also off-grid independence if desired. The SystemEdge approach also includes an Integrated Battery Rack (IBR) with OutBack’s innovative NanoCarbon batteries, a maintenance-free design which deliver up to 30 percent longer service life in typical installations compared to conventional types. The system is fully tested and ready-to-go; requiring only wall-mounting and a few basic connections.

OutBack is also showing its new ICS+ Integrated Combiner Solution, which provides the safety and shut-down operation required by the National Electrical Code for rooftop-mounted solar arrays. Along with SystemEdge, ICS+ makes OutBack the only single brand offering a fully-compliant, UL-1741 listed system from rooftop to battery. “This level of assurance is exactly what solar contractors can take to the bank, in closing system sales with their customers” said Barbee.
