The U.S. Patent Office has issued Pegasus Solar a patent for its solar panel clamps for residential installations, that are designed to make the mounting process faster and easier.

Pegasus’ rail-free residential solar mounting systems use the clamps to secure solar panels to residential rooftops. Conventional mounting structures can require extensive installation time and awkward maneuvering by installers. Pegasus says these self-aligning clamps are configured to align the clamping faces instantly upon tightening. The clamps also include a camlock-type action so installers don’t have to reach over PV modules to tighten mid clamps at dangerous or uncomfortable angles.

“As more and more solar energy systems are installed on U.S. rooftops, installers need high-quality equipment that is faster and easier to use,” said Kai Stephan, Pegasus’ CEO. “This latest patent confirms Pegasus’ leadership and innovation in developing better mounting systems for the residential solar industry.”

Clamps of Approval: Here’s what to look for when selecting PV clamps

Founded in 2012, Pegasus Solar designs and manufactures innovative rooftop mounting systems for global solar markets. Its LightSpeed Mount Residential, a new rail-less system, uses one-third the parts and pieces of conventional mounting systems and installs twice as fast while saving up to 25 percent on costs. Pegasus’ LightSpeed Tile Replace system is twice as fast to install than traditional tile hooks, and works with traditional rails or the LightSpeed Mount rail-free system.
