Green Link sent word of a new adhesive/sealant it’s created specifically for use with its KnuckleHead Rooftop Support System, which we profiled here. Green Link Adhesive/Sealant bonds and seals the KnuckleHead Universal Base and is effective on a wide range of roof surfaces. The new adhesive/sealant has been specially formulated to adhere to PVC, EPDM, TPO, and Mod Bit, as well as the KnuckleHead base itself, which is composed of glass-reinforced nylon.
“The KnuckleHead base is unique in that it can be adhered directly to the roof membrane,” said Ondrej Pekarovic, Green Link design engineer. “While there are some products on the market that effectively bond and seal the KnuckleHead base, Green Link Adhesive/Sealant is the only product that effectively adheres to even the most challenging types of PVC membranes.”
Green Link Adhesive/Sealant is based on polyether chemistry. It cures by exposure to moisture, so it can be applied to damp surfaces and will not shrink upon curing. It will not discolor from UV exposure, can be applied at temperatures as low as 32°F, and is capable of joint movement in excess of 35%. It is available in standard 10.1oz cartridges.
Green Link is an innovative engineering company that develops and produces polymeric architectural products for the construction industry including specialized markets such as controlled environments. Green Link is committed to processes and products that cause no harm to the environment or human life.

Momentive Performance Materials Inc. featured a portfolio of products that can help enable long durability and cost-effective manufacturing for solar module assembly at the Solar Power International Show in Las Vegas, NV. SilTRUST SP100 adhesive is the latest in Momentive’s growing family of high-performance products for solar applications. These include frame sealing solutions, junction box and back sheet sealing materials, junction box potting, PV module encapsulants, and sealing materials for thin film technology, CPV technology and rail bonding.
SilTRUST SP100 adhesive was developed as a one-component condensation cure silicone rubber for sealing. This adhesive cures at room temperature to form an elastic, flame retardant rubber and adheres to various types of materials such as metal, plastics, glass and ceramics, without the use of primers. It has excellent storage stability, stable properties after high temperature & humidity (85C/85%RH) and heat age. The low cost silicone grade comes with a complete UL listing including flame retardency, dielectric properties and certification for indoor and outdoor adhesion to glass, aluminum, mPPE from -35CF – >110C to allow PV module manufacturers to quickly adopt this new grade. White, gray and black version SilTrust SP100 adhesive pastes are available.
“Momentive is a global leader in providing material solutions for solar module assembly,” said Clarissa Miller, Global Program Manager – Industrial RTV’s. “Each year solar module installation continues to grow. In order to keep up with the pace of capacity increases, Momentive has worked closely with module manufacturing facilities to develop a new grade to meet the demanding requirements for extended outdoor use, electric insulation and flame retardency.”
Momentive has been a provider of advanced materials to the solar industry for more than a decade, with more than 10 product grades targeted toward solar applications. Momentive materials are used for encapsulation for photovoltaic modules, thermally conductive adhesives and potting, junction box potting and sealing, and solar panel and frame sealing.
