Blue Earth Inc., a renewable energy and energy efficiency services company, announced today that it has entered into an agreement to sell its recently commissioned Waianae solar facility to Kenyon Energy. The 500-kW system is located on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. The sale of this project provides Blue Earth with additional corporate resources to apply toward its combined heat and power (CHP) projects, and sets in motion a broader relationship with Kenyon Energy to similarly convert its large solar project pipeline.
A Letter of Intent has been signed for Kenyon Energy to acquire two additional solar systems totaling 785 kW on the island of Oahu. BE Solar will provide the engineering, procurement and construction services for the completion of the facilities in the third quarter of 2014. Kenyon Energy and Blue Earth are also working together to develop and build other solar projects on the islands and the mainland.
Ray Gonzalez, President, Kenyon Energy, stated, “Blue Earth has a highly competent, national sales force that works with utilities and host facilities to develop, build, and maintain renewable energy systems that contribute to the nation’s renewable energy goals. We are committed to supporting Blue Earth’s solar development initiatives as a strategic funding partner.”
“We are extremely pleased to establish a strategic relationship with Kenyon Energy that will enable us to accelerate completion of our current solar pipeline and develop new business together. We share common business philosophies with Kenyon’s management that provides an excellent foundation for a mutually beneficial, long term relationship,” stated Johnny R. Thomas, CEO of Blue Earth.
