Take a look: Illinois hunting club goes solar thanks to Tick Tock Energy

Collin Cain, owner of Cain Farm and Grassy Lake Hunting Club, recently installed a 29 kW solar PV to generate power for his home, farm, and business. Installation and services were provided by Tick Tock Energy, Inc., a solar contractor based in Effingham, IL. The project included 88 solar modules and power optimizers, two inverters, and a solar PV rack.

Cain is well-known in Southern Illinois due to Grassy Lake Hunting Club, located on Route 146 in West Jonesboro. The club provides lodging for hunters throughout the waterfowl season. Cain has hosted clients from the Cardinals, Rams, and other St. Louis organizations. As a man of business and innovation, Cain searched for a means to reduce his energy costs for both farm and business. The solution came when Cain approached Tick Tock Energy about become more energy independent.

The plan required a complete upgrade of electrical services for both the farm and hunting club. Tick Tock Energy coordinated the necessary power shutdown to electrical connections in order to install the solar array. The 29 kW solar PV spans the roof of a barn on the property. The solar array is expected to supply power to over 50% of the property, including home, farm, and club. Mr. Cain was very pleased with the results, stating “The installation crew did a great job! They were very courteous and professional.”
