SnapNrack Achieves Class A Fire Rating with Type 1 Solar Modules

SnapNrack, a manufacturer of solar panel and racking systems, announced its residential roof mount system, Series 100 UL, is now UL 2703 Code Compliant for bonding and code compliant for fire rating. SnapNrack is among the first racking manufacturers to achieve Class A Fire Rating with Type 1 Modules.

SnapNrackLogo_jpg (1)The Class A Fire Rating now allows SnapNrack to continue its commitment to safety and innovation by providing a racking system that reduces the risk of fire spreading and designed to reinforce the fire safety of a home’s roof.

SnapNrack achieved certification by successfully completing and passing the Fire Resistance Tests required by UL 1703 and 2703. During the Spread of Flame Tests, the SnapNrack Series 100 UL system reduced the spread of flame on the roofing surface and, in addition, prevented damage to the roof deck in the Burning Brand Tests. The SnapNrack rails create an air dam under the array, limiting the progression of hot air and flames. The UL2703 Fire Testing demonstrated that the addition of a SnapNrack UL system to an existing Class A rated roof will not affect the roof’s Class A rating.

Overall, this achievement certifies that all SnapNrack Series 100 UL systems, with Type 1 modules, are Class A fire rated under UL 2703 Code Compliance. This also ensures that the system meets the requirements of the California building codes set by local jurisdictions and the 2012 International Building Codes which will become mandatory on January 1, 2015.
