OYA Solar, a North American turnkey solar developer, has opened a New York office to support the company’s growing development work in the region. The new office, located in New York City, is OYA’s first in the United States and will allow the company to manage its growing portfolio of projects in New York and the Eastern United States. The move is, in part, in response to the state’s recent commitment to achieve 100% carbon-free power generation by 2040–including doubling the state’s distributed solar development to 6 GW by 2025.
“OYA is thrilled to be launching our New York office. The state’s commitment to a clean energy future makes it a fantastic place for us to expand and invest. The future of solar is in states like New York that are willing to set high goals and move clean energy policy into the 21st century,” said Manish Nayar, Founder and CEO of OYA Solar. “Governor Cuomo’s commitment is great news for the state’s economy–particularly rural areas where farmers and others have the opportunity to earn a reliable monthly payment for solar. We look forward to helping the state reach its ambitious goals.”
With over 850 MW and 5,000 acres under development — including 200 MW in New York– OYA is among the leading mid-size developers in New York State. OYA is specifically developing 25 community solar projects across New York.
OYA Solar is a leading developer of community, commercial and utility-scale solar projects in North America. The company has in-house development, permitting, engineering, and project finance teams which de-risks solar projects and maximizes execution certainty. OYA works closely with landowners to develop customized community solar projects that prioritize land stewardship while maximizing value to the landowner.
