Today, Centrosolar America and Johnson Melloh Solutions, together announce the completion of a 61-kW solar project at the recently completed Fronius building in Portage, Ind. This building houses both the Fronius USA headquarters, as well as its new USA manufacturing facility.
“I was excited when we were awarded the project. It’s not often that we have the opportunity to work so closely with an industry leading inverter manufacturer. The combined effort resulted in a completed design that we are proud to have in our portfolio. Because Fronius is an inverter manufacturer, they were in a unique position to be able to showcase 10 different inverters ranging from 3-kW to 12-kW from their product line,” said Johnson Melloh Project Manager Jeff Cole.
The solar array, installed by Johnson Melloh Solutions, consisted of 55 kW of solar panels on the rooftop and another 6 kW on pole mounts The project featured 244 of Centrosolar America’s made in the USA B-Series 250-watt panels mounted on the roof and on two pole mounted installations with Wattsun dual axis trackers. Fronius contributed 10 different inverters, such as its Fronius IG Plus Advanced 12.0-3 WYE277 with integrated arc fault protection (AFCI), advanced grid features and datamanager cards for monitoring the energy produced by the system.
“Centrosolar America is very proud to have been selected to participate in this project. It highlights the strength of our well established and cooperative relationship with Fronius,” according to Matt Kelly, Senior Manager – Sales for Centrosolar America.
“We specifically chose to work with Johnson Melloh and Centrosolar America because it was important to us to contribute to the local economy and feature made in the USA panels supplied by one of our long-standing partners. Both companies collaborated closely with us on the design and installation to deliver a showcase project on time and on budget. This first phase of our solar system and new solar lab will be used for testing new inverters designed specifically for the US, and demonstrates our commitment to the American market,” said Sebastian Hassell, Product Manager for Fronius USA.
