Martin Roofing & Solar’s patent-pending Hidden Fastener Solar Mount passed a milestone, earning the nod from major American shingle roof manufacturer: CertainTeed. The lettered approval to H.F.S.M. states that installation of the new solar mount will not void or reduce CertainTeed’s asphalt shingle warranty.
Martin Roofing & Solar is family-owned company based in Mascoutah, Illinois, that’s been in business for over 40 years. As long-time roofers, they devised this new hidden-fastener design to avoid common issues associated with holes in shingles.
The innovative design of the Hidden Fastener Solar Mount leaves no holes in shingles, and it recently received UL certification to standard 2703. It is the only solar mount we know of that does not leave exposed holes or fasteners in shingles.
The shingle suppliers Martin Roofing works, like CertainTeed, see no issue with lifting the shingle to fasten the solar mount as long as that shingle isn’t too brittle. If for some reason a new shingle is required, Martin Roofing and Solar would just put down a new shingle.
“Contractors and property owners now rest assured that rooftop solar need not leave holes in their shingles, nor in their CertainTeed Asphalt Shingle Limited Warranty,” said Preston Nelson, Solar Director at Martin Solar. “We plan on taking care of all these roofs, for as long or longer than any of us are around. We think that we have developed the perfect product to do it, and we are excited to share the confidence and experience with others.”
Martin’s Hidden Fastener Solar Mount will be in exposition this week Tuesday and Wednesday during the Midwest Solar Expo, located at Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL, near to Chicago’s O’Hare Airport.
