Eco-Friendly Pet Waste Bags Do the Duty

Cleaning up after your pet is your civic (ahem) duty, not to mention a generally responsible thing to do if you don’t want to arouse the wrath of your neighbors. But while all those plastic bags you use to clean up after Fido may keep you in the good graces of both your municipal government and your home owners association, they’re not doing a whole lot for the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. Enter the Harry Barker No. 2 doggy-doo bag.

Like the distasteful stuff you’ll use these bags to pick up and discard, the Harry Barker No. 2 bag is 100 percent biodegradable. Each roll contains 15 bags, and conveniently fits the Harry Barker No. 2 pet waste bag dispenser, available pink, blue, brown and black. These dispensers are made of recycled plastic and clip directly onto leashes, collars or even key rings, helping to ensure that you and your pooch will never be caught out in the neighborhood without the necessary equipment.

The dispenser case measures 2.75 inches wide and 1.5 inches high and features a removable end for easy bag replacement. Replacement rolls are available in packs of three, eight or 18. The dispenser runs $8; the packs run three for $6, eight for $14, or 18 for $25 (for those who see the wisdom in preparing for the inevitable).

And while you’re on this whole green pet thing, consider adding in one of Harry Barker’s eco-friendly leashes, made from 100 percent certified recycled plastics  (with no petrochemicals), right down to the buckle. And then there are those popular, eco-friendly hemp fabric dog bed rolls, stuffed with recycled eco-fiberfill padding … you get the idea.

Harry Barker No. 2 bags, according to the company, are also great for cleaning up cat waste (or, you know, as great as anything can be for such a purpose). More on the company’s eco-friendly pet products is available online.
