The RAYBOT from Ecovacs Robotics, of Canton, Ohio, is an environmentally friendly robot for cleaning solar panels.

Canton, Ohio-based Ecovacs Robotics announced that it has been named a 2015 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) Innovation Awards Honoree for the RAYBOT, the water-free solar panel cleaning robot.

Products entered in this CES program are judged by a preeminent panel of independent industrial designers, independent engineers and members of the trade media to honor outstanding design and engineering in cutting edge consumer electronics products across 28 product categories. The Ecovacs RAYBOT is honored in the Tech for a Better World category.

The RAYBOT from Ecovacs Robotics is a new environmentally friendly robot designed to effortlessly clean solar panels. Capable of cleaning commercial and utility-scale solar photovoltaic panels up to a 75-degree angle, the RAYBOT safely sweeps, blows and vacuums the panels to remove dust and dirt, ensuring that the maximum amount of sunlight is exposed to the panels to produce energy.

“Ecovacs Robotics is honored to receive the esteemed CES Innovation Award honoring outstanding design and engineering in consumer technology,” said Jeff Mellin, director of marketing for Ecovacs Robotics. “Solar power has become one of the most rapidly implemented renewable sources of electricity for homes and businesses around the world.  However, many people forget that dust and dirt can hinder the energy output because it blocks the sun’s rays.  The RAYBOT can help ensure that solar photovoltaic panel systems are always clean for optimum performance.”

The prestigious CES Innovation Awards are sponsored by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), the producer of the International CES, the global gathering place for all who thrive on the business of consumer technology, and have been recognizing achievements in product design and engineering since 1976.

Ecovacs Robotics will display the RAYBOT at booth No. 26014 at the 2015 International CES, Jan. 6-9, in Las Vegas, in the Unmanned Systems Marketplace in the Las Vegas Convention Center South Hall. Honorees were also displayed at CES Unveiled New York, which featured dozens of exhibitors and networking opportunities Nov. 11 at the Metropolitan Pavilion, New York.

Entries are evaluated on their engineering, aesthetic and design qualities, intended use/function and user value, how the design and innovation of the product directly compares to other products in the marketplace and unique/novel features present.

Products chosen as CES Innovation Honorees reflect innovative design and engineering in some of the most cutting edge tech products and services coming to market. 2015 CES Innovation Honoree products are featured on CESweb.org/Innovation, which lists product categories, as well as each product name, manufacturer information, description, photo and URL.
