FTC adds tracker clamp for First Solar Series 6 modules

We got an up-close look FTC Solar’s new 1P solar tracker at RE+, Pioneer, which had several clever design ideas. The solar tracker and engineering service provider is still in tweaking mode is seems, developing a novel clamping solution specifically for easing the installation of First Solar Series 6 and Series 6 Plus modules on its Voyager Tracker.

“Several nuances in the rail design enable the integrated solution to work well together. It is a testament to our engineering team’s prowess and adaptability,” says Nagendra Cherukupalli, CTO at FTC Solar.

First Solar has a unique thin-film module, which requires compatible mounting system. This variant of FTC’s Voyager uses the company’s patented Slide and Glide methodology and First Solar’s SpeedSlot mounting feature.

The result is an installation system that utilizes no traditional hardware. Instead, a mechanical fastener is used to secure and ground the First Solar module frame to the Voyager system’s module rail.
