{"id":19059,"date":"2013-11-22T19:08:36","date_gmt":"2013-11-22T19:08:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ecowatch.com\/?p=313082"},"modified":"2013-11-22T19:08:36","modified_gmt":"2013-11-22T19:08:36","slug":"precedent-setting-policy-passed-in-maryland-requires-renewable-energy-for-all-public-buildings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/leedpoints.com\/green-building-blog\/precedent-setting-policy-passed-in-maryland-requires-renewable-energy-for-all-public-buildings\/","title":{"rendered":"Precedent-Setting Policy Passed in Maryland Requires Renewable Energy For All Public Buildings"},"content":{"rendered":null,"protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" src=\"http:\/\/ecowatch.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/shutterstock_27344170-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Photo courtesy of Shutterstock\"><\/p>\n<p>For the first time, a county in the U.S. decided that all of its new governmental buildings must incorporate renewable energy into their designs.<\/p>\n<p>Prince George&#8217;s County Council in Maryland unanimously <a href=\"http:\/\/www.princegeorgescountymd.gov\/sites\/CountyCouncil\/News\/Pages\/COUNTY-COUNCIL-APPROVES-LEGISLATION-REQUIRING-SOLAR-OTHER-CLEAN-ENERGY.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">approved a measure<\/a> this week necessitating 1 kilowatt of solar, wind or geothermal energy for every 1,000 square feet of a public facility.
