However, there is one really important creature responsible for much of our favorite Thanksgiving fare: <a href=\"http:\/\/ecowatch.com\/2013\/10\/29\/demand-protection-wild-bumblebees\/\" target=\"_blank\">bees<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Bee pollination is a $20 billion to $30 billion per year contributor to U.S. agriculture and vital to the majority of fruit and vegetables we enjoy throughout the year.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, bees are at risk from habitat invasion, climate change and the excessive use of harmful pesticides called <a href=\"http:\/\/ecowatch.com\/2013\/09\/26\/neonicotinoids-poses-risks-to-more-than-bees\/\" target=\"_blank\">neonicotinoids<\/a>. Some countries are taking the lead in banning these chemicals. For example, the European Union suspended the use of neonicotinoids&nbsp;last spring.<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency <a href=\"http:\/\/portlandtribune.com\/sl\/202141-state-regulators-ban-bee-killing-pesticides-on-sensitive-trees-\" target=\"_blank\">took a similar step last week <\/a>by requiring labeling on pesticides that <a href=\"http:\/\/ecowatch.com\/2013\/06\/24\/50000-bumblebees-dead-neonicotinoid-pesticide\/\" target=\"_blank\">harm bees in Oregon<\/a>, a state that has seen a major decline in bee populations.<\/p>\n<p>Here, courtesy of <a href=\"http:\/\/greenpeaceblogs.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Environmentalist<\/a>, are seven traditional Thanksgiving foods that we wouldn&rsquo;t be enjoying if it weren&rsquo;t for bees.<\/p>\n<p><strong>7.
