{"id":20183,"date":"2013-12-21T16:00:02","date_gmt":"2013-12-21T16:00:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ecowatch.com\/?p=315885"},"modified":"2013-12-21T16:00:02","modified_gmt":"2013-12-21T16:00:02","slug":"video-ev-charging-etiquette","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/leedpoints.com\/green-building-blog\/video-ev-charging-etiquette\/","title":{"rendered":"Video: EV Charging Etiquette"},"content":{"rendered":null,"protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" src=\"http:\/\/files.cdn.ecowatch.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/chargingET-150x150.jpeg\" alt=\"chargingET\"><\/p>\n<p>It probably wasn&#8217;t easy learning what to do and&mdash;more importantly&mdash;what not to do at the first U.S. gas stations in the early 1900s, but we eventually found our way.<\/p>\n<p>You have to imagine the same will happen at <a href=\"http:\/\/ecowatch.com\/2013\/12\/04\/fuel-efficient-vehicles-2014\/\" target=\"_blank\">electric vehicle<\/a> (EV) <a href=\"http:\/\/ecowatch.com\/2013\/10\/09\/find-closest-ev-charging-station\/\" target=\"_blank\">charging stations<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Sure, EV owners have chargers at home, but retailers have already begun installing them <a href=\"http:\/\/ecowatch.com\/2013\/12\/03\/ikea-ev-charging-station\/\" target=\"_blank\">outside their stores<\/a>, and legislators are planning on <a href=\"http:\/\/ecowatch.com\/2013\/10\/24\/8-governors-pledge-3-3m-zero-emission-vehicles-by-2025\/\" target=\"_blank\">harmonizing building codes<\/a> to make it easier to install them at shopping centers, apartment buildings and more. Once people have access to even more public stations&mdash;there are already nearly 7,000 in the U.S.&mdash;they&#8217;ll have to figure out the most efficient methods to get charged without inconveniencing their fuel-efficient counterparts.<\/p>\n<p>Drivers are starting to figure it out for themselves, but the <a href=\"http:\/\/peninsulapress.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Stanford University Peninsula Press<\/a> has decided to help out, too.
