Hannah Solar teams with Sonnenbatterie for energy storage option for new residential division

Hannah SolarHannah Solar, the top independent solar integrator in Georgia, is teaming up with Sonnenbatterie Inc., developer, designer and manufacturer of integrated and unique energy storage systems, to address the growing demand for residential solar coupled with an energy storage solution. This will be the first partnership of its kind in the Southeast, creating new incentives from solar power combined with energy storage. Coincidently, the partnership news comes at a time when Hannah Solar is launching its new residential division, Hannah Home Energy. Hannah Home Energy also offers electric vehicle charging stations and Generac back-up generators to complete their new residential program.

Residential solar along with energy storage allows residents to harness and store the solar energy generated during the day for use at night, or even during a power outage and as back-up. With a growing interest in solar, adding an integrated storage solution will make it even more appealing, particularly in the residential sector according to Pete Marte, CEO of Hannah Solar. Atlanta-based Hannah Solar was founded in 2008. Since then, it has installed residential, business and institutional solar systems around the Southeast with a focus, until now, on commercial.

“The residential solar game has changed,” Marte said. “When House Bill 57, ‘The Free Market Finance Act of 2015’ passed both the GA House of Representatives and Senate unanimously, all customers in Georgia could now finance solar energy systems for their homes or businesses. Customers don’t have to write a large check anymore for the next 30 years of energy they will consume. They can now pay for their energy over time,” according to Marte.

The Sonnenbatterie product is an integrated energy storage system that utilizes intelligent energy management software, able to monitor the energy flow – both the electricity production and the consumption – anytime and anywhere. In addition to monitoring, this information can also help the user understand their electricity storage. Each Sonnenbatterie energy storage system has a touchscreen that allows the user to control, measure and see a graphical real time display of all system information. Additionally, each homeowner will have an app for their computers and smart devices to monitor their energy use by the hour.

Sonnenbatterie was founded in Germany in 2010. Since then, the company has grown significantly. Sonnenbatterie has established itself as the pioneer of energy storage systems in Europe, having installed more than 8,000 storage solutions throughout Europe. Since its entry into the U.S. market, it opened headquarters in Los Angeles, California and has established a research and development facility in Georgia. As a pioneer in the energy storage industry, Sonnenbatterie partners with local companies that have the expertise, outstanding customer service, and credibility in their territories.

“While we have teamed-up with other companies throughout the nation,” said Boris von Bormann, CEO of Sonnenbatterie Inc., “this will be our introduction to the Southeast. Having an R&D facility in Norcross, GA, we are familiar with the solar industry in Georgia, now growing at an extremely fast pace. Hannah Solar was the best possible partnership choice for Sonnenbatterie.”
