One of the more interesting creations to come out of the recently held Salt Siida Workshop, taking place on the Sandhornøy island in Norway, is certainly the so-called Nomadic Shelter. It measures a very modest 130 square feet (12 square meters) yet can comfortably sleep up to 12 people.
The Nomadic Shelter is not intended for full-time living, and is meant as more of a temporary shelter, much like a tent. It is aimed primarily at festivalgoers and other nomads, as an alternative to a tent. It can also be disassembled very easily and transported to a different location on a whim.
The Nomadic Shelter is constructed out of 13 different sized boxes, which measure either 7.9 x 4 x 2.6 ft (2.40 x 1.20 x 0.8 m) or 10.5 x 4 x 2.6 ft (3.2 x 1.2 x 0.8 m). The boxes are stacked one atop another, then secured into place with straps and screws. The finished shelter has four floors and is 15.7 ft (4.8 m) high. Inside there are several sleeping nooks with a ladder that provides access to the ones higher-up.
