Premier Alliance Group Inc., a leading provider of business performance, compliance and energy management solutions, announced that its Energy and Sustainability Division completed a 277 kilowatt solar PV project for the Border View YMCA in San Diego, California. A ribbon cutting ceremony commemorating the system turn on took place on December 14th with the YMCA leadership and members of the San Diego CleanTECH community on hand.
The newly completed solar PV system covers what was once an open parking lot and will now provide shade from the hot Southern California sun for 92 parking spaces. In addition to keeping the YMCA members more comfortable the environmental impact will eliminate an estimated 275 tons of carbon dioxide annually, equivalent to removing 57 vehicles from the road every year.
“This was a great event to kickoff our partnership with the YMCA of San Diego,” said Russ Earnshaw, Senior Vice President for Premier Alliance. “Premier Alliance will be providing the generated energy to the YMCA as well as ongoing maintenance and support for the system over the next 25 years and we look forward to continually working with the YMCA in assisting them with their current and future sustainability goals.”
“With 2,600 YMCA facilities in the United States of America, the Y is a leading nonprofit organization for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Y is a nonprofit like no other. In 10,000 neighborhoods across the nation, the Y has the presence and partnerships to not just promise, but deliver, positive change. The solar project will serve as a catalytic example of environmental awareness and responsibility. The financial savings will allow our Y to fund additional programs and services in keeping with our mission of ‘improving the quality of human life’ for our members and our community,” stated Deanie Marin-Lucchesi, Border View Family YMCA Executive Director.
