Sunrun is expanding access to its Brightbox rechargeable solar battery system, which features Tesla Powerwall batteries, to serve more parts of Orlando and Tampa. Sunrun’s expansion into Florida Power & Light’s (FPL) service territory means that more people can benefit from Sunrun’s solar and home battery offerings.
Sunrun began providing solar and battery storage to people in Florida in 2017, with Duke, Tampa Electric, and Orlando Utility Commission service territories. As of May 2020, people in the Orlando and Tampa area within FPL’s service territory can now access reliable, clean power with Brightbox from as little as zero dollars down and at a consistent, low monthly rate.
“People need to feel confident that they’ll have power when the grid goes down,” said Lynn Jurich, Sunrun’s co-founder and CEO. “Our Brightbox rechargeable solar battery system helps families keep the lights on and makes sure their food stays fresh if the power goes out. We’re pleased to be helping even more people in the Sunshine state take control of their home energy with Brightbox, and are excited to continue expanding access to clean, reliable power across Florida.”
