Some people don’t want to make the leap to living tiny full-time, but that doesn’t stop them from enjoying the benefits of living small when it comes to vacation homes. Such is the case behind this unique tiny lodge, which was built for a ski-enthusiast couple. It was created by Maximus Extreme Living Solutions, and it’s designed so that it can be used in all types of climates, even very cold ones.
Apart from the interesting exterior, the so-called Tiny Ski Lodge also has a unique interior layout. It features an upstairs lounge and a hobby room that can be used for sewing and crafting. The lodge was built atop a 30 ft (9.1 m)-long triple axle trailer and measures just 240 sq ft (22.2 sq m) all told. The lodge is clad in pine and corrugated metal. It features lots of windows, including a porthole, which let in plenty of natural light.
The ground level houses the bathroom, kitchen, hobby room, and a sitting area. The bathroom features a sink, shower and composting toilet. The kitchen is fitted with a propane-powered cooker and refrigerator.
The upstairs area has the sleeping loft on one side, and the living room on the other. The latter has a normal-height ceiling and provides access to a small balcony. The home also has a deck, which is accessible via stairs on the exterior of the house.
The Tiny Ski Lodge has RV-style hookup foe electricity, and it is heated using an electric heater. The walls were made using SIPs, and according to the designers, the house is so well insulated that it can be lived in comfortably in temperatures from minus 50 to 150° F (-45.6 to 65° C). Also, the utility bills only come to about $25 – $35 per month.
