Unirac Inc., a Hilti Group Company and the leading provider of high quality, competitive solar photovoltaic (PV) mounting solutions in North America, has been selected by Dynamic Solar Solutions to provide 469 kW of Ground Mount Steel (GMS) for installation in Christiansted, a town on the island of Saint Croix, a district of the United States Virgin Islands. The project broke ground in late December 2013 and is scheduled to be completed in April 2014.
The array will support the energy needs for the Federal Building and Courthouse of St. Croix, making it the first General Services Administration (GSA) building in the United States to achieve net zero energy consumption rating. The project is part of an Energy Savings Performance contract (ESCO) between Schneider Electric and GSA with a performance guarantee of 18 years.
“We selected Unirac because of our exceptional past experience with them,” said Leonardo Lebron Torres, P.E. and President of Dynamic Solar Solutions. “Unirac consistently provides excellent engineering and project support for their products. The GMS solution is fast and easy to install, ultimately providing cost savings for our projects.”
GMS evolved from more than 10 years of experience in the fixed ground mount market to meet a variety of project requirements. Powerful light gauge structural steel components yield low material costs. Extremely low total installed costs are achieved through Unirac’s innovative project construction methods with pre-assembled components. With more than 400 MW installed in North America, GMS is the system of choice for fixed-tilt commercial and utility ground mount projects.
