Sustainable Interiors is a Great New Strategy

The ribbon cutting for the Hudson Building was held on Tuesday, April 12th in Vancouver Washington and Mackenzie’s Green Globes Sustainable Interiors plaque was already displayed near the front door. Mackenzie’s new offices in Vancouver Washington earned
Four Green Globes and is only the second Tenant Improvement to earn 4 Green Globes in the U.S. Notable features of this TI that helped it to achieve such a high rating was their addition of sub-metering, and achieving 100% in the Water, Project Management and Emission environmental assessment areas. Mackenzie also had their subcontractors record training regarding sensors, thermostats, etc. to maximize ongoing operations. The short video below is a prime example of how architecture and engineering firms can use Green Globes to help and encourage their clients to meet or exceed their sustainability goals.

“As our understanding of the environment and human well-being evolves, exciting new opportunities in sustainable design and certification are being developed. Green Globes for Sustainable Interiors is a great new strategy that efficiently addresses central issues of occupant health and comfort, ecological friendliness, and choice of materials.” Rich Mitchell, Managing Principal of Mackenzie.
