Tecta Solar Installs 1.7-MW PV Farm at Former Wool Factory

Tecta Solar, a division of Tecta America Corp., recently completed the installation of 1,762 kWp of solar photovoltaics for a solar farm development on the site of the former Barre Wool Factory in Barre, Mass. This ground mounted project includes a ballasted array.

tumblr_llv5p5Ikwh1qi4ucgo1_500In its first year of operation, the system is projected to generate a total of 2,273 MWh of energy, which is equivalent to powering 299 average Massachusetts homes for a year. The system features Solectria inverters, Solar FlexRack racking and ET Solar photovoltaic modules.

Tecta Solar managed every phase of the project, including design, engineering, procurement, construction, SREC registration and commissioning of the ground mounted project. “This project is unique in that it is a ballasted ground-mounted system due to soil conditions,” said Patrick Bollinger, project manager for Tecta Solar.

Tecta Solar has installed more than 8,560 kWp of solar photovoltaic systems in Massachusetts, including the first commercial solar photovoltaic system to be qualified for the Massachusetts RPS Solar Carve-Out and the largest rooftop solar photovoltaic project to date.
