Enphase now shipping IQ microinverters from third U.S. factory

Enphase Energy

Enphase Energy has been quickly ramping up a U.S.-based contract manufacturing footprint this year. The rollout started in July, from a facility in Columbia, S.C., with a splashy press conference that included President Biden. Those microinverters are being produced by global manufacturer Flex. Next came a Foxconn facility in Mount Pleasant, Wisc.

Today, Enphase is officially shipping IQ Microinverters from a facility in Arlington, Texas, via global contract manufacturer Salcomp.

“We are pleased to have Salcomp as a contract manufacturing partner in the United States,” said Ron Swenson, vice president, operations at Enphase Energy. “The ability to service our local customers better, along with helping to support installers to deliver our industry-leading solutions, are some of our top priorities.”

The partnership will grow in 2024 by adding battery storage products and commercial microinverters.

“We are thrilled to partner with Enphase to manufacture its market-leading products at our facility in Texas,” said Brian Chaconas, Arlington site manager at Salcomp. “Together with Enphase, we are helping to bolster high-tech manufacturing in the United States and scale clean energy solutions for a sustainable future.”

IQ Microinverters leverage Enphase Energy’s software-defined architecture and semiconductor integration. The Enphase Energy System with IQ8 comes in four different configurations:

  • “Solar Only”;
  • “Sunlight Backup” with no battery;
  • “Home Essentials Backup” with a small battery; and
  • “Full Energy Independence” with a large battery.

The Enphase IQ8 Microinverter system is the first in the world to be certified to UL 1741, 3rd edition including the Supplement SB. This certification meets the new North American safety and grid interconnection standards for connecting solar inverters, energy storage systems, and distributed energy resources (DERs) to the grid in compliance with IEEE 1547-2018 and IEEE 1547-1 2020.
