K2 Systems debuts 4 Wire Dragon Clip

K2 Systems 4 Wire Drago clip

Rooftop mounting and racking supplier K2 Systems added a new solar PV wire management product, the K2 4 Wire Dragon Clip, to “eliminate the need for zip ties or various cable clips” in both railed and rail-less systems.

The K2 4 Wire Dragon Clip is made of stainless steel and attaches directly to the PV module frame, eliminating the need for additional hardware. Its UV-resistant nylon body mitigates the risk of sharp edges damaging cable insulations. Compatible with all K2 Systems, the “4 Wire” can hold either four PV cables or two Enphase Q Cables.

K2 Systems has been developing mounting systems for solar technology since 2004. They have over 20 years of experience as roof top specialists and have installed over 32 GW worldwide. The company was founded in Germany but has since expanded to 10 locations worldwide and has over 24 GW installed worldwide.

K2 Systems also recently launched K2 Edge — a simplified system that has an eye toward both aesthetics and installation ease. The K2 Edge is the result “of years of research, development, and collaboration with industry experts,” the K2 team tells us.

Installation is fairly simple. The K2 Edge bracket that attaches to the solar module frame is installed using a 13mm socket like the rest of K2’s solar mounting components. The remaining K2 Edge pieces use a tool-less installation process. The Corners are universal, and the K2 Edge can be easily customized, cut, and installed in various configurations.

Our Rooftop Solar BOS Buyer’s Guide provides a good snapshot of what’s new and updated across the racking, mounting and wire management marketplace. When it comes to the latter, wire management suppliers are constantly needing to place defense, in a way, and react to changes made elsewhere in the PV system, such as the evolving size and shape of solar modules, and the influx of attached electronics.

Here are the most notable wire management product trends as seen in the 2024 edition of the Rooftop Solar BOS Buyer’s Guide. Be sure to give the whole thing a scroll for an expanded look at the market.
