LONGi signs silicon supply deal with Western supplier Ferroglobe

silicon supply partnership handshake

LONGi entered into a long-term silicon supply agreement with Ferroglobe PLC, a world leading producer of Silicon Metal and Ferroalloys, earlier this year. This agreement consolidates the partnership between the two companies and paves the way for even stronger collaboration in the future.

Under the terms of this agreement, Ferroglobe will supply high-quality quartzite and metallurgical grade silicon (MGS) to LONGi to support its strategy to increase purchases from the leading Western suppliers of silicon materials.

Ferroglobe PLC is leading global producer of Silicon Metal, silicon-based and manganese-based Ferroalloys. Ferroglobe PLC launched December 2015, out of the combination of the privately-owned Spanish company Grupo Ferroatlántica and the publicly listed US company Globe Specialty Metals (NASDAQ: GSM).

Solar module component supply, and country of origin, are scrutinized in the United States due to UFLPA detentions and AD/CVD tariffs. This strategic partnership reflects LONGi’s commitment to traceability ranging from quartzite to solar panels.

“We are thrilled to announce our long-term partnership with Ferroglobe,” said Tian Ye, Vice President, LONGi of this silicon supply agreement. “LONGi is a global technology enterprise, and its supply chain is also developing towards globalization. This strategic move will enable us to supply our trusted customers and partners with LONGi’s dependable, high-efficiency, and eco-friendly solar products worldwide.”

LONGi has manufacturing facilities and sales offices in more than 150 countries and regions worldwide and says it hopes to establish long-term cooperative relationships with more excellent overseas enterprises in the future.

More on LONGi modules

LONGi showcased its new Hi-MO X6 Bifacial Dual-Glass solar modules during the 19th China (Jinan) International Solar Energy Utilization Conference in April. The Hi-MO X6 Bifacial Dual-Glass modules cater to a wide range of PV application scenarios, such as distributed roofs, PV carports, and winter gardens. This cutting-edge product line includes Hi-MO X6 Explorer and Hi-MO X6 Guardian (Anti Humidity & Heat),and is especially designed for high temperature and high humidity environments.

In addition, LONGi’s Hi-Mo 5 Anti-Dust solar panels for residential and commercial solar projects is an intriguing innovation. The “2022 LONGi Global Customer Satisfaction Survey Report” shows that 80.13% of residential and C&I scenarios are troubled by module dust accumulation. Anti-dust innovation for solar panels would not only boost base-line PV system performance, but also reduce the frequency of module cleaning, saving on O&M costs.

Key to the anti-dust design is the frame, which allows dust to slide off more easily, as illustrated in this video:
