Created in 2000 to develop technology solutions for the homebuilding industry, Austin-based Builder Homesite, Inc. will soon be the site of the largest solar energy system in the Pedernales Electric Cooperative (PEC) territory. Revolve Solar, a commercial and residential solar contractor headquartered in Austin, Texas, partnered with BHI to deliver the designs and installation of the 194-kW solar power installation.
Founded by entrepreneur Tim Padden, Revolve commenced operations in early 2012 and quickly replicated its formula to compete in multiple Northern California markets. Revolve was responsible for the design, engineering, and interconnection of BHI’s 586 panels, including 55 kW worth of solar carports. In total, the rooftop system and carports are expected to offset 80 percent of their electric costs and will reduce their carbon footprint by 5,785 tons of carbon dioxide.
Pedernales Electric Cooperative serves more than 271,000 meters in an 8,100-square-mile service area.
“We’re proud to be able to deliver this kind of sustainable solution for BHI,” commented Tim Padden, CEO at Revolve. “There’s been tremendous excitement on BHI’s part, and we’re pleased to help them realize their goal of getting more than half of their electricity from solar power. Projects like this demonstrate how much solar prices have fallen over the past few years and how it can now compete effectively as an energy source. Specifically, because it can save business customers vasts amounts of money by investing in fixed price power.”
